Jack Pepper ’57

Of the numerous successful men who have come through the University of Denver and the Beta-Omicron house, Jack Pepper certainly stands out. A known philanthropist, businessman and supportive Kappa Sigma, Brother Pepper has as much to do with Beta-Omicron’s past success as he does with its future. It’s fitting that Brother Pepper, an investments partner, believes that his involvement in Beta-Omicron has paid great dividends, both professionally and personally. As an undergraduate, he put his organizational skills to work, serving as Beta-Omicron’s grand treasurer for two years. After graduating in 1959, Brother Pepper joined the Marine Corps, where he served until 1964. He then returned to Denver, took graduate courses at DU, and began working at Boettcher and Company, an investment firm. He worked there until 1988, when he retired after serving as the company’s managing partner in the public finance department. After a five-year retirement, Brother Pepper returned to the workforce, forming Yampa Investments, Inc. with a friend. He currently serves as the owner and president, though Brother Pepper still considers himself semi-retired. But, just as Kappa Sigma teaches, life is about more than just professional success. Brother Pepper has been very active in the community, especially in his town of Greenwood Village, Colo. He has been a part of the budget review committee in Greenwood Village, a board member at the Schlessman YMCA, and a member of the board of directors in the Greenwood Village Little League. He has also remained loyal to Beta-Omicron. As an alumnus, Brother Pepper has served as Chairman of Beta-Omicron’s Alumni Board of Control. He and his wife Sandra have three grown children: Mark,, Todd and Amy, and four grandchildren. In his free time, Brother Pepper enjoys fly fishing, big-game hunting and deer hunting on and around his 2.5 -acre estate in Greenwood Village, where he has lived for over 18 years. He remains active in Beta-Omicron, and stays close with numerous Kappa Sigmas from the chapter house. “ Kappa Sigma has provided me with a lifetime of friends,” he said.
