If you’ve spent any amount of time in the television room at the Chapter House in the past decade, you probably recognize Brother Westcott’s name – the room was named in his honor after he spearheaded the rebuilding of the house in the 1980’s. However, Brother Westcott’s impression on the Beta-Omicron Chapter goes further than one room. During both his time as an active and an alumnus, Brother Westcott has proven that his dedication to Kappa Sigma runs deep.
As an undergraduate, he was the social and homecoming chairman of both Beta-Omega and Beta-Omicron. He is also credited with the creation of the first Beta-Omicron Beachcombers Ball. Brother Westcott didn’t spend all of his time and effort in the house, however. He was a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council, the All-University Social Chairman and the Chairman of the Inter-Fraternity Council University Dance, which attracted over 15,000 Greeks at DU. Following graduation, Brother Westcott dedicated much of his time to raising money for both his Chapter and his alma mater. He founded the University of Denver Mile Hi Alumni Club, and is a former officer of the DU Alumni Association. Brother Westcott’s professional career has also been impresive as well. Currently the president of Westcott Advertising Incorporated, he’s crafted a career as one of the most successful advertising executives in the Denver area. He is the former president of the Rocky Mountain National Agri-Marketing Association and a former officer for the Denver Advertising Federation. He’s received the National Best 50 Self-Promotion Award from the Printing Institute of America, and he’s received numerous awards for both print and broadcast media. Brother Westcott has also been heavily involved in community events around Denver. He has been a member of the Denver Junior Chamber of Commerce, the former Special Publications Chair for the Central City Opera Association and remains active with the Hope United Methodist Church. Brother Westcott and his wife Anne have three children, Susan, David and Michael, a Kappa Sigma alumnus. According to Brother Westcott, his continuing support of the Beta-Omicron Chapter is the least he can do to ensure others can receive the benefits he did during his college days.
“With our world becoming more fragmented, we realize that Kappa Sigma is a spirit that must be protected so that it will remain strong and available for those to enjoy in the future,” says he. “Kappa Sigma brotherhood is forever.”
